OEM manufacturing
Reliable production from first sample to repeat order.
Pattern development, material selection, foam, cutting, sewing and inspection all happen in one facility, so every run matches the specification you approved rather than a drawing somebody reinterpreted.
That is also why a change request comes back in days instead of across an ocean.
The floor
Manufacturing in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
You work directly with the people designing, sewing and shipping your product. No agency in the middle, and no overseas shipping cycle sitting between a change request and a corrected sample.
That is why a first article turns around in a few weeks, and why a design question gets answered by the person who will actually sew it.
What we do
Custom upholstery capabilities.
Midwest Textile builds custom upholstery for OEMs and product brands: seat covers, cushions and soft furniture patterned to the part itself, specified for the environment it has to survive, and manufactured at production volume in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Pattern development and fit engineering
We pattern from the seat or frame rather than from a drawing, so the cover fits the real contours, mounting points and wear areas.
Material selection for UV, abrasion and cleaning
Marine vinyls with UV and mildew resistance, commercial fabrics rated in double rubs, cleanable medical finishes, and colorfast materials that will not dye-migrate.
Foam, cushions and inserts
Foam cut to your dimensions and density and sewn into cushions, seat tops and pillows, so the cover and the fill arrive as one finished part.
Welting, piping and branding
Contrast welting, piping, channels and embroidered or applied logos, held to the same placement on unit one and unit ten thousand.
Production-ready first articles
A validated sample built on real material and fitted to the real part before a full run, so a scale-up does not turn into a redesign.
Production runs, kitting and logistics
From pilot quantities of around 100 units through to orders of 100,000 and above, held, kitted and released against your production schedule.

Custom Upholstery Questions, Answered
The questions OEMs and product manufacturers ask us most often before a first article. If yours is not here, ask it directly.
What materials do you use for custom upholstery?
It depends on where the product lives. Marine and outdoor seating needs vinyl with UV and mildew resistance; high-traffic commercial seating is chosen by abrasion rating in double rubs; medical and dental seating needs finishes that survive daily disinfection without cracking.
Tell us the environment and how the product is used and cleaned, and we will spec the material to that rather than to a swatch book.
Can you match an existing seat or cover?
Yes. A physical seat, an existing cover, a drawing, or photographs with key dimensions are all enough to start.
We pattern from the part itself wherever we can, which is more accurate than working from a drawing, because it captures the real contours, mounting points and wear areas.
Do you supply the foam as well as the cover?
Yes. We cut foam to your dimensions and density and sew it into cushions, seat tops and pillows, so you receive a finished part rather than a cover and a separate fill.
If your seat uses a molded foam or a frame you supply, we pattern the cover to it.
Can you meet flammability or other standards?
If your product has to meet a flammability standard, a medical requirement, or Berry Amendment compliant materials for a government program, tell us at the quote stage.
The standard determines which materials and foams are eligible, so it has to be settled before the first article rather than after it.
What is the minimum order quantity for custom upholstery?
We run from pilot quantities of around 100 units through to orders of 100,000 and above.
Before a full run we build production-ready first articles, so the design is validated on real material and the real part before you commit to volume.
What does custom upholstery cost?
There is no list price, because upholstery is priced on the pattern, the material, the foam, the detailing and the run size.
The largest lever by far is quantity. Send us a seat, a drawing or an existing cover and we will price against the actual part.
Where is the upholstery manufactured?
In our own facility in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
You work directly with the people designing, sewing and shipping the product. That is the reason a change request is answered in days rather than across an overseas shipping cycle.
Start a project
Send us a seat and we will build the upholstery around it.
A physical seat, an existing cover, a drawing or photographs with key dimensions are all enough to start. Tell us where the product lives and how it is used and cleaned, and we will spec to that.
Quotes answered inside 48 hours. Pilot runs start around 100 units, with a production-ready first article before any full run.
